This wine is made using select Barbera and Bonarda grapes. It's vinified in the Piacenza style and is bottled in the spring following harvest after natural fermentation. It's a wine that was created 2,000 years ago to honor Julius Caesar's mother, who was from Piacenza. This is a classic, traditional, and high-quality version of Gutturnio. And the designation "Superiore" indicates higher alcohol content and the more strenuous winemaking practices.
Perfectly clear ruby red
Notes of dark flowers on the nose, like rose and geranium, accompanied by ripe, sweet, and even candied fruits flavors reminiscent of fruit syrups, compotes, and brandy-cured Amarena cherries.
In the mouth, the wine is warm and smooth, with excellent freshness and well structured tannin that balances the smoother components of the wine, giving it harmonious character.
Meat dishes from the Emilian culinary tradition but also first courses made with ragù, baked pastas, and rich layered rice dishes like a timballo.
